Who's Enlightened?

…..In the Christian bible we read, “…judge not, lest ye be judged…”. I don’t know about being judged (personally), but judging everyone else sounds like a real pain in the ass, doesn’t it? With only so much time and energy at our finger tips every day, wouldn’t it be better put to use in our own practice of the Buddha’s eight-fold path, no less its mastery?

…..But how will we know once we (as individuals) are enlightened? When we practice the eight-fold path: spontaneously, habitually, easily, and effectively we’re enlightened. When our motive operandi shifts FROM being rigid, fearful, controlling, elitist, and competitive TO that which is flexible, loving, controlling, egalitarian, and cooperative in a manner that is spontaneous and uncontrived THEN we are enlightened.

…..When asked what it was like to hang out with the fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet, Richard Greer explained that it was like hanging out with your brother on his best day AND with your father on his best day. That sounds like to worthy goal to me, how about you?
