Teaching a Narcissist a Lesson - 25oct21

Don’t try to teach a narcissist a lesson.

They can NOT learn.

For their problem is neither one of ignorance

nor of so called “stinking thinking.”

Their problem is NOT one of software

but rather of hardware.

Their prefrontal cortex seems to bypass

its anterior cingulate gyrus

(the seat of empathy)

and connects directly to its brainstem:

cruel and ruthless;

an express route (if you will)

with no intervening off ramps.

Like hyperspace lanes in “The Clone Wars.”

No, don’t separate yourself from a narcissist

to teach them a lesson

but rather because

you’ve learned the lesson,

that you can’t change them.

And they will drain you,

and discard you.

And prevent you

from using your talents

to brighten the world around you.

Let us conclude

with a simple

call to action

In the Tibetan tradition Lamas are supported

not by monasteries but by students

as such the production of these livestreams,

blogs, and class materials is supported

by the generosity of viewers, and listeners, and readers

just like you.
