Forgetting the Mind? - 12oct21

The Diamond Sutra

can inspire the provocative question,

“How is one to ‘forget the mind’

without undermining mindfulness?”

It could be helpful to keep in mind

the figurative nature of

Prajnaparamita discourses.

Although one is to notice the antics of mind

one is not to clutch desperately at so-called virtuous thoughts

nor struggle ferociously against their dark counter-parts.

What, then, is one to do with them?

Let-go!

Just as heightened awareness

is wired into each inhalation,

likewise physical relaxation

(which is hard-wired into every exhalation)

is the key that unlocks the door

of mental release.

Let us conclude

with a simple

call to action

In the Tibetan tradition Lamas are supported

not by monasteries but by students

as such the production of these livestreams,

blogs, and class materials is supported

by the generosity of viewers, and listeners, and readers

just like you.
