Fear and Loathing in Meditation - 28oct22

Tapping into our inner Hunter S. Thompson, let’s explore the irony displayed in contemporary Jhana training: where we indulge our controlling tendencies while striving to transcend them. Recalling de Vinci’s insistence that simplicity is the zenith of elegance let’s take a laid back approach to Anapanasati-inspired meditations: silently and mentally reciting them in harmony with our inhalations and exhalations for about 36 rounds each (without taking any guff from the swine).

Long belly breath/ relaxing!

Short nose breath/ relaxing!

Feeling form/ relaxing!

Notice this/ calming form!

Feeling bliss/ relaxing!

Feeling joy/ relaxing!

Feel coarse mind/ relaxing!

Notice this/ calm coarse mind!

Watch fine mind/ relaxing!

Cheer fine mind/ relaxing!

Notice this/ calm fine mind!

Notice this/ free fine mind!

Notice this/ how changing?

Notice this/ how fading?

Notice this/ how ceasing?

Notice this/ releasing!

May you meditate like a Jedi!
