“Where is your mask, oh plague rat?”
I playfully quipped to my neighbor
who responded
“I am exercising my right to choose!”
But what we forget
is that our rights end
at the tip of our nose
and how our rights
do NOT include
the willful endangerment of others
especially during the time of pandemic
when more than 200,000 Americans
have perished
and even the president
(privileged and protected)
has been hospitalized.
Since when
does our right to choose
supersede others’ right
to live?
Let us conclude
with a simple
call to action

not by monasteries but by students
