is NOT to prevent us
from feeling certain emotions
for that would be
the metaphysical equivalent
of a lobotomy.
NO, the purpose of meditation
is to make us more mindful
of what we feel
so that what we feel
does not sneak up on us
and make us act the fool.
And then to help us
harness the energy
of what we feel
to fuel: our love,
and compassion,
and the wisdom of letting go
that we might become
the healthy, well-adjusted adults
we have always longed to be.
