The pseudo-spiritual quest
to determine the “true” cause
of our anger, fear, or sadness
is a fool’s errand.
It exhausts our time
and mental resources
from that which is truly transformative
all the while feeding our self-importance.
Ask the Buddha,
ask Lao Tzu;
the key to transcending the duality
of loving peace
and hating rage
in not found
in the stories we tell ourselves
but rather by noticing and letting-go
in harmony with our breathing.
Let us conclude
with a simple
call to action

not by monasteries but by students
