The irony is profound:
the more concerned we are,
that we might be narcissistic
the lower the chances that we are.
But the opposite is also true,
the more convinced we are
that we are not narcissistic
the greater the chances we are.
The issue is not one of belief,
it never is.
The issue is one of ruthless self-examination.
The greater our tendency to second guess ourselves,
the more willing we are to peer under
the metaphoric rocks in our heart,
the more willing we are to shine the light of vulnerability
upon the dark wriggly things dwelling beneath them
the less apt we are to be the villain.
Spirituality: it ain’t for the faint of heart.
