Vulnerability, Resentment, & Release - 16oct22

Everybody plays the fool. Each of us knows how deceptively good it can feel, to dial down our mindfulness, and believe our own press: that we are the heroes of everyone’s story, as pure as the driven snow, and incapable of a moment’s pettiness, no less cruelty.

But there is a price we pay for wisdom and that cost is awareness rich with vulnerability and the subtlest hint of vulgarity. Our mind has grown to be cooperative, but first it evolved to be competitive: the Mister Hyde to our Doctor Jekyll.

Standing before the mirror of our ruthless self-inventory is painful, but it is necessary if we are to side-step the land minds of the dark potential latent within even the purest of hearts. The revulsion we feel toward our inner darkness could fuel our mindfulness that notices as well as our meditation that relaxes and releases in harmony with our breathing.
