Meditation, Duration, and Aversion - 23oct22

Writer's picture: Lama Jigme GyatsoLama Jigme Gyatso

In psychology 101 I read of aversion, and later I experienced it viscerally (care of miracle whip and food poisoning). Train too hard in meditation and you could develop an aversion to that as well.

Consider the cliché, “slow and steady wins the race.” FIRST week - set your smart phone’s timer so you’ll only meditate for no more than five minutes every twelve hours. SECOND week - ten minutes every twelve hours, THIRD week - fifteen.

Progress thusly (by five minutes every week) and within seventeen weeks you could have adapted to ninety minutes, twice daily; and meditate like a Jedi!
