Letting-go Demystified - 4nov21

Deeply troubled

by a spiritual counseling session

gone wrong,

my coworkers

stared piercingly into my eyes

and told me to just let it go.

My inner child raged,

“If I knew how to do that

I would have already done so!”

Thus began my twenty year quest

to learn precisely how to do that.

I received the answer from one Theravada teacher

and two Vajrayana teachers.

The Buddha’s fifth and sixth enlightenment factors

are sometimes translated as relax and release.

When we physically relax during our exhalation

we will find ourselves mentally releasing

whatever we noticed during our inhalation.

In the words of Morpheus,

“You have to let it all go, Neo…”

Let us conclude

with a simple

call to action
