There is a controversy
about tantric empowerment.
As a young man the Tibetan Lama:
Dza Patrul Rinpoche
wrote a fundamentalist tome
extoling a rigid view of Buddhist practice;
this book is very popular.
However after a lifetime of practice
his final meditation manual
“The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones”
(which is available on Amazon dot com)
views Buddhism
through a progressive lens.
In the context of explaining the Chenrezig practice
the book explains (amongst other things)
that traditional transmission and empowerment
are not important.
Surprisingly the fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet
wrote an enthusiastic forward to this book.
Essentially a lifetime of practice
transformed Dza Patrul Rinpoche
from a Mace Windu
into a Qui Gon Jinn.
Let us conclude
with a simple
call to action
In the Tibetan tradition Lamas are supported
not by monasteries but by students
as such the production of these livestreams,
blogs, and class materials is supported
by the generosity of viewers, and listeners, and readers
just like you.
